Stanley
In 1841, Hong Kong's total population was estimated to be around 7,350. Stanley was the most densely populated area - with a population of around 2,000 - most of whom lived on boats rather than land. During the second world war it was the last bastion to fall to the Japanese invaders.
Stanley is situated on the south-side of the Hong Kong Island and has some spectacular apartments and houses. It is a great area for families to bring up children because there are a number of international schools nearby, beaches, picnic areas and open spaces.
