Fanling lies in western North District, New Territories, covering ~10 km² with over 150,000 residents as of 2025. Fan Pik Ling village dates to Ming Wanli era; settlements trace to Tang times. A new town developed in the 1980s. MTR East Rail Line’s Fanling Station is central; Fan Kam Road and Sha Tau Kok Road connect. Highlights include Fanling Wai (Peng clan walled village), Lung Yeuk Tau Tang clan ancestral hall, and Grade-1 historic Sin Shut Study Hall. Residences like Fanling Centre and Ming Tak Estate cluster; Wah Tai Market keeps rural market vibes. Fanling evolved from village to modern town, blending heritage and urban life—a key North District living zone.
There is also an 18-hole golf course in Fanling that hosted the 2018 Hong Kong Open.
