Tiu Keng Leng (調景嶺) is an area in Sai Kung district in the northeast New Territories that looks out over Junk Bay. In earlier days, prior to the 1950s, it was home to many mainland Chinese Nationalist soldiers and other refugees who fled to Tiu Keng Leng to escape prosecution from the then recently established the People's Republic of China. Today Tiu Keng Leng is a new development area, packed with mostly public housing estates and modern high-rise residential buildings. The two main private housing estates are Metro Town, Ocean Shores, while the private housing estates include Kin Ming Estate, Choi Ming Court and Shin Ming Estate. Notable places of interest include the Tiu Keng Leng Sports Centre and the spectacularly designed Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) building.
